Top lawyer Geoff Jones to head up member support division at Medical Protection Society

27 July 2020

The Medical Protection Society (MPS) has announced the appointment of Geoff Jones as Executive Director of its Member Protection and Support division.

MPS is the world’s leading protection organisation for healthcare professionals, supporting over 300,000 members around the world with a range of issues arising from professional practice, such as clinical negligence claims, complaints, regulatory matters, inquests and criminal investigations.

The Member Protection and Support division is at the forefront of protecting the careers, reputation and financial security of healthcare professionals, and Geoff will be responsible for delivering a first-class service to MPS members across claims, cases, advisory and legal services - heading up a multi-disciplinary team of experts.

Geoff started his career at Weightmans LLP as a defendant PI lawyer acting for a range of insurers and public organisations. For the last 10 years he has worked for RSA Insurance, where he has held many senior positions including Chief Claims Officer Ireland, Commercial Claims Director UK & Europe, and Director Specialty and Wholesale.

In addition to being a lawyer, Geoff has extensive experience of working in a regulatory environment leading large claims operations, multi-disciplinary teams, and more recently, running RSA’s London Market Specialty and Wholesale business, where, together with his team, he returned the business to profitability.

Geoff also has experience of working outside of the UK – leading businesses through change and improving operational performance, whilst delivering for customers.

Geoff commented: “I am delighted to be joining a business with such expertise, and whose people do great things each day to enable the delivery of healthcare - this is an exciting prospect for me.”

Geoff will join MPS on 5 October 2020.
